Kenny and Garry's Epic 9 Day Bike Ride For Christopher

Kenny and Garry set off on an epic cycle ride with a target to raise £1,500 for the Myotubular Trust and they exceeded their goal by more than £1,000. This new feat of a 517 mile bike ride, followed an earlier 250 mile bike ride for the Trust and was again in memory of Garry's son, Christopher, who had myotubular myopathy. See the full journey in pictures here.

Kenny said “The idea came as we were looking to do something different to mark my 50th birthday so we decided to set off on a real test of our sense and fitness, neither of which are particularly good."

Their cycle route took them through the five capital cities: Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin, Cardiff and London. The route took 9 days in total to cycle with their longest day covering 87 miles. They stayed in various hostels and hotels along the route to rest their weary limbs.

When they finally arrived in London, waving their arms triumphantly in the air as they cycled down Pall Mall, no-one was there to meet them - but that was because they were 2 hours early!

Asked if they would do it again they both immediately said "absolutely"!

We have selected some of the wonderful photos from Kenny and Garry's beautiful cycle route, but hope you will enjoy reading more in their diary of their entire epic journey which has been separated out into PDFs below:

We would like to congratulate and thank Kenny and Garry for taking on such a mammoth feat - an event lasting nine days is surely our longest lasting fundraiser to date!
