Successful Sunday Seaside Fundraiser

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to two wonderful nans, Sue and Donna, for having arranged an amazing fundraiser on Sunday 29th August.

Sue and Donna, whose 18 month old grandson, Will, has x-linked myotubular myopathy, took upon the huge task of hosting a garden party on Bank holiday Sunday, having carefully chosen the day when day trippers would be flocking to the seaside!

Guests were able to savour the delights of the barbecue and home made tea and cakes whilst enjoying music which was provided courtesy of a neighbour and his fellow band members. There was also the opportunity to try your luck at the tombola and to bid in the auction for some fantastic prizes, all of which were very kindly donated by local businesses.

Nan, Sue, had promoted the garden party and Will’s story in her local paper, The Bournemouth Echo, in advance of the event in order to both raise awareness and to encourage more guests on the day - which you can read here.

Despite the weather being a little overcast, the event was an outright success and Sue, with the support of a committee formed of friends and relatives who provided invaluable support with the organisation and smooth running of the day, were absolutely thrilled to have broken their £500 target fourfold and to have raised no less than £2,102!

We would like to thank everybody who supported this event and wish you the very best of luck with next year’s which we’re told is already being planned!

Thank you all.
